The hunt is on to find former executive chairman of the Urban Development Corporation of T&T (Udecott) Calder Hart. This as civil proceedings documents sent to Hart at Unit 701 Las Olas, Grand Private Condominiums, 411 N New River Drive, East Fort Lauderdale, Florida, 33301-3176, United States, have been returned to T&T as he no longer resides at this address.

Bread and circuses at Mid-Centre Mall

With the rapid pace of news events, the recent celebration put on by government at Mid-Centre Mall may seem as history, albeit recent history. Yet, ancient Roman history cast a long shadow on the occasion as it has done throughout the fifty years of our independence. Still, its vivid presence at that gathering was without precedent. And, even for the sympathetic on-looker, this meant coming to terms with the fact that the change hoped for was nothing but an illusion and the reality that all the confidence tricks stretching back over two thousand years are very much alive in the present.

Heading to a rally of a different kind

The People's Partnership Government celebrated its second year in office last week and held a rally which it said was its way of accounting to its supporters for the work it had done. David Abdulah of the Movement for Social Justice (MSJ) refused to attend because he said the rally was a fete and this was no time for fete. Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar said the Government was like a two-year-old child and deserved a birthday party.

Sunway Director is Mrs Hart’s brother

THE Central Authority in Malaysia, acting on a request by Attorney General Anand Ramlogan via the TT Central Authority, issued court proceedings in Malaysia which later confirmed the authenticity of a birth certificate belonging to a director of Sunway Caribbean Limited, which was given a multi-million dollar contract by Udecott, under the tenure of then executive director Calder Hart, to build the Ministry of Legal Affairs Tower in Port-of-Spain.

Elite team to probe Harts

The Malaysian authorities have agreed to facilitate a team of elite police officers from the Trinidad and Tobago Fraud Squad and the Anti-Corruption Investigations Bureau (ACIB), to peruse records and interview persons of interest allegedly involved in the Calder Hart perjury probe.
